Traditional braces is a common treatment carried out in order to help correct bite problems. Optimal care requires periodic evaluation of patient needs, especially during the growing years and treatment is most effective when begun in the primary or mixed dentitions and accomplished in successive phases as the patient goes through their pubertal growth spurt around the age of 12-14 years. Treatment is commonly carried out using metal brackets that are adhered to the teeth with an adhesive and connected by a wire. There are also many other appliances that may be used during traditional braces treatment to help achieve a beautiful and harmonious smile. Because traditional braces aims to utilise the growth potential of the patient, it is most suited for younger patients and patients in their early teenage years.
