What Are Cosmetic Braces?
Cosmetic braces are a form of treatment that focuses on aligning your teeth to make them look straight in a reasonably short amount of time. Treatment is more cosmetically focused on giving you a great smile, without the longer treatment times of traditional braces. We do not aim to change your back bite or your jaw positions and we aim to keep these the same. Because of this cosmetic focus, treatment times can be substantially reduced and treatment times are usually around the 6 months mark.
What Are They Made Of?
Cosmetic braces are made of clear and transparent materials, such as ceramic or composite materials. They are lightweight and easy to wear, and have been designed to be as discreet as possible. The wires used to move the teeth are made of super-elastic nitanium metals, usually coated white to hide the silver colour of the natural metal underneath.
How Are Cosmetic Braces Put On?
Once the teeth are cleaned and dried, a bonding agent is placed and the cosmetic braces are glued individually to a precise position on each tooth surface. From here, a flexible and thin wire is placed inside the braces slot and secured with a clear elastic o-ring. You will be given instructions on how to look after the braces and appointments are usually scheduled 4 weeks apart for us to check progress and change wires.
How Much Does It Cost?
Cost of cosmetic braces depends on the type of misalignment you have, and whether you want to treat just one arch or both arches.
